Ameliorators International Initiatives, in collaboration with Saliu Mustapha Foundation, recently hosted a groundbreaking Youth Parliamentary Workshop on the theme: “Youth Engagement in Politics: Promoting Civic Education and Democratic Values.” This event brought together young leaders, distinguished speakers, and passionate advocates to explore avenues for active participation in politics and the promotion of democratic ideals.
Keynote Address:
Ahmed Ishowo Yakub, Executive Director of Ameliorators International Initiatives, delivered a compelling welcome address, urging youth to stand up and champion democratic institutions through active involvement in decision-making processes that affect them directly.

The workshop featured three distinguished guest speakers who provided valuable insights into various aspects of democracy and youth engagement in politics:
Professor Abdulraheem Modupe Nimatallah: Explored the critical topic of “Safeguarding Democracy,” emphasizing the legal framework necessary for protecting civic rights and upholding democratic values.
Comrade Abdulateef Ishowo: Shared perspectives on “Unleashing the Power of Youth,” highlighting the importance of active participation and leadership, with a focus on the transformative impact of initiatives such as the Not Too Young to Run Bill.
Hon. Abdulkareem Abdulkareem: Provided comprehensive insights into “Crafting Legislation That Empowers,” outlining the legislative process and the significance of bills in effecting positive change within society.
Parliamentary Engagement:
Following these enlightening discussions, participants convened to form a simulated parliament. Here, they elected leadership and engaged in a robust discussion on “Climate Change and the need for everyone to take eco-friendly actions.” Recognizing the urgency of environmental issues, the parliament unanimously passed a resolution, emphasizing the collective responsibility to adopt sustainable practices.
